Community Projects
It’s your community, it’s your energy
Enova Community, the not-for-profit arm of Enova has been set up with the vision of creating communities who are in charge of their own power. We do this by enabling everyone to access renewable energy and providing information on how to use energy efficiently. Our projects include supporting the development of local community renewable energy generation and social benefit projects.
Do you have a project that needs support?
Enova is looking for eligible not-for-profit organisations in the Northern Rivers who need help with reducing their energy bills. We can assist with helping you access no-interest loans for solar and energy efficient upgrades. Contact us for more information.
Renewable Development Project
Enova’s Renewable Energy Development Initiative will help to kick start the development of new community renewable energy projects, both large and small, with priority for Northern Rivers-based projects. Enova will purchase power from community renewable generation projects to help make them more financially viable, and to create a pathway to transition our local customer base onto community generated clean energy supply.
How you can help
For communities to own and control their power as we shift to renewables, it is vital that they have a retailer who can partner with them. This is why the Enova Renewable Development Initiative is a critical element of our charter. Customers can contribute to the initiative by forgoing their pay on time discount. Business can also contribute. The money raised will be audited and reported annually.
Partner with us
Enova is calling for expressions of interest from communities interested in partnering with us and sharing profits to fund their renewable energy or energy efficiency projects. Not only is Enova Australia’s first community owned electricity retailer but we’re also providing a creative way to initiate community renewable energy projects.

Social Benefit ProjectsOur community benefit projects will find innovative ways to reduce the energy costs of low-income households and community organisations, while also boosting the supply of renewable energy use.
Projects Completed
RED IncRED Inc. was established 30 years ago, and is a much loved disability services provider in the Northern Rivers. We’ve supported Red Inc. using the assistance of philanthropic co-funding and crowd funding to buy Solar Panels. This was Enova Community’s first social benefit project, assisted by one of our volunteers and Enova donors.

North Coast Community Housing Company (NCCHC)We worked with the NCCHC, a social housing provider in the Northern Rivers area, to install solar panels on 30 homes that the company owns and manages. Half the funding was provided by the NSW Government and half through a loan facilitated by Enova. Enova education will be provided by Enova Energy Coaches, and in addition to the solar panels will reduce energy bills for these households. Enova Energy will buy back solar generated energy at feed-in tariff rates from those tenants who become our customers, to add to the total of locally generated energy in our region. Read more>
LightnUp LismoreLightnUp Inc is a not-for-profit community organisation situated in the heart of Lismore. It runs the Lismore Lantern Parade, an annual community arts festival attracting over 300,000 people on or around the longest night of the year, being the Winter Solstice.

After having their premises devastated by 3-metre flood waters in the wake of Cyclone Debbie, LightnUp Inc had to rely heavily on the generosity and kindness of the local community as it cleaned up its workshop and rebuilt lanterns in time for this year’s parade.
To help them thrive in their new location, Enova Community is assisting in accessing an interest free loan through CORENA to install energy efficient lighting and solar panels on their new building.
